Initiatives & Impact
Together with regional and national partners, our coalition pursues outcomes that foster economic equity, community development, and sustainable growth for BIPOC communities.
Generational Wealth Building
Capitol Fund
In partnership with LocalFund PBC, Capitol Fund increases access to capital for diverse entrepreneurs across Greater Washington DC. This initiative anchors BIPOC entrepreneurs in their communities, preventing displacement and promoting double equity, with empowerment equity and economic prosperity. By increasing access to business loans and investment, LocalFund helps marginalized businesses build generational wealth. The framework aligns with our mission of fostering economic justice and unlocking opportunities to uplift entire communities.
Workforce Development
Broadband Microtrenching
In partnership with Crown Castle and ARC, this initiative provides specialized workforce training in rapid broadband infrastructure installation, including increased access to high-tech job opportunities for BIPOC individuals. By leveraging microtrenching technology, this program creates new job opportunities and strengthens local workforces, especially in underserved areas. The collaboration with Crown Castle and ARC aims to bridge the workforce gap in digital infrastructure, contributing to economic growth, digital equity and inclusion.
Economic Development
Localight
In partnership with the Alliance for Regional Cooperation (ARC), Localight democratizes digital commerce with a zero-fee payment and rewards platform supporting independent merchants. Aligning with AMIBA's advocacy for local self-reliance, the initiative ensures nearly four times more money stays in the community. Targeted incentives boost sales across Black, Hispanic, Asian, female, and veteran-owned businesses. In Long Beach, California, 75% of program benefits went to BIPOC businesses, and we now aim to replicate this impact across greater DC (DMV) and beyond.
Education Focus Areas
Solar Workforce Development
Training skilled workers for the clean energy sector, promoting economic and environmental justice. By providing workforce training for solar manufacturing, we help create well-paying, sustainable jobs for BIPOC individuals while supporting renewable energy adoption in marginalized communities.
Economic Justice
Fostering income equality and access to capital for BIPOC entrepreneurs, creating opportunities for economic growth and inclusion. We support initiatives that break down barriers to financial resources and advocate for fair economic policies that benefit marginalized communities.
Broadband Micro Trenching
Bringing high-speed internet access to underserved communities to level the digital playing field. We implement broadband infrastructure projects that enhance digital inclusion, enabling participation in education, remote work, and e-commerce, thus driving economic development.
Environmental Justice
Ensuring access to clean air, water, and promoting green jobs that support community health. We address environmental inequities by advocating for policies that reduce pollution in marginalized areas and by creating opportunities for green job training and employment.
